Peabody Properties receives award from Bedford VA

Bedford, MA Peabody Properties has received a Friends of Social Work Award from the Bedford Veteran’s Affairs Healthcare System’s HUD-VASH Project Based Enhanced Services program.

The Friends of Social Work Award recognizes the outstanding contributions of social workers within the HUD-VASH (Housing and Urban Development-Veterans Affairs Supportive Housing) program at the Bedford VA.

Each year, the Social Work Service seeks nominations from its staff to recognize those who have been extraordinarily helpful to the Bedford VA HUD-VASH in its work to provide the best care possible to veterans.

Among its many initiatives is Peabody Properties’ creation of permanent supportive housing for homeless veterans and those at imminent risk of homelessness, including Bedford Green in Bedford, Massachusetts, and Pleasant Street Apartments in Beverly, Massachusetts.

Peabody Properties’ award was announced during a March 7th virtual meeting of the Bedford VA Social Work Service staff.

“We’re honored to receive the Friends of Social Work Award from the Bedford VA,” said Jacquie Cope, senior resident services manager with Peabody Properties.  “At Peabody, we have long recognized that stable and supportive housing provides a foundation for veterans to rebuild their lives after service.  By prioritizing supportive housing as an initiative, we both recognize and honor veterans’ service.”
