Ribbon cutting of Maplewood at Stony Hill.

The Stamford office of top international design and architecture firm Perkins Eastman joined leadership and staff of Maplewood Senior Living on December 2, for the ceremonial ribbon cutting of the new Maplewood at Stony Hill. The three-story, 84-unit memory care and assisted living facility in the town of Bethel broke ground in September 2013.
Located on a six-acre site in Fairfield County, the new facility features a Alzheimer's Educational Resource Center, where friends, family and the public can go to research and learn about the effects of Alzheimer's disease and how evidence-based research practices and thoughtful design can assist with the treatment and care of loved ones.
Maplewood at Stony Hill's design layout divides each floor into two neighborhoods, each with its own unique residential environment including activity areas and living room, along with a shared dining room on each floor with an open kitchen and farm-to-table dining.
"The ways we care for those with memory loss are changing and improving all the time based on new research," said David Hoglund FAIA, LEED AP, Principal and executive director with Perkins Eastman. "This translates to the design community as well. We are pleased to see Maplewood at Stony Hill raising the bar for senior care in the state of Conn."
