What trends or innovations do you believe will shape the future of your field, and how are you positioning yourself (or your firm) to be at the forefront? Construction will forever be one of the very few jobs that has to be done by a human. So the demand for qualified tradespeople will always be there. The entire millennial generation was told that they have to go to college to earn a real living, and Gen-Z is the first generation with easy access to technology. Two generations where blue collared work was looked down on. A large portion of the existing workforce will be retiring out, making the need for qualified workers more in demand than ever. Recruiting firms are going to be critical in keeping the industry staffed, from field to office.
Who or what has inspired you most in your career, and what advice would you share with the next generation of women entering the A/E/C industry? I didn’t expect to end up in staffing, nonetheless construction staffing. What has kept me here, are the people. I have never walked into a space and felt as if I didn’t belong. The people in this industry are real people. People who understand what it takes to earn a living, and put in a hard day’s work. It really does not matter if you are a man or woman, as long as you show up.
What’s your favorite way to recharge or get inspired outside of work? Being outside, cold or warm weather, dogs on a leash, beautiful daughter in tow.
