Pro Con celebrates ribbon cutting at $13.5 million Residence Inn by Marriott

A ribbon cutting ceremony celebrating the hotel's official opening was recently held for a new 128-room Residence Inn by Marriott at 200 Maple St. Pro Con Inc of Manchester, N.H. was the architect and construction manager for the $13.5 million design-build hotel, which has been developed by XSS, LLC. "We officially welcomed our first guests to Boston's newest hotel," said the project manager for XSS Hotels. "This is a beautiful, upscale hotel, which is conveniently located to both downtown Boston and Logan airport. We are excited to be open for business and look forward to serving our guests." The 5-story hotel has 111 studios and 17 one-bedroom suites, with a large hearth room, bar and lounge area, breakfast room, indoor pool and fitness room, 1,300 s/f of flexible space meeting rooms, business center and guest laundry area. The building's first floor houses the hotel's reception and common areas and has street level, covered parking for 26 vehicles outside the entrance. Floors 2 thru 5 house the hotel's guest rooms. The hotel has improved the sky line of the city and is clearly visible when driving on Rte. 1, north of the Tobin Bridge. The hotel exterior façade features precast concrete, brick veneer, insulated metal paneling and cornice molding. The main entrance features a curved canopy with metal panels and double sliding glass doors. The hotel has been designed and built to achieve LEED certification. Pro Con used regional & recycled materials in construction and incorporated environmentally friendly design elements such as a white roof, over-sized windows, low-flow plumbing fixtures and LED lighting throughout the hotel's common area and parking lots.
