Pro Con Inc received the Building New Hampshire 2012 Award for the Residences at Portwalk in downtown. Cathartes Private Investments of Boston, was the project developer and Pro Con was the architect and construction manager for the Residences at Portwalk. Pro Con was formally recognized in the Mixed-Use Construction category for building an energy-efficient, high-performance mixed-use building. The award-winning project, which was designed and built to minimize its carbon footprint and impact on the environment, was completed in November 2011 and attained LEED Gold in July 2012. The Residences at Portwalk, a 52,000 s/f apartment complex, consists of a 5-story mixed-use building, offering 36 apartment homes. The apartments, with various one and two bedroom design configurations, each have a fully equipped kitchen with wood cabinetry and granite counters, Energy Star stainless steel appliances, laundry area, living/dining room or great room, and master bedroom suite with marble vanity counter and shower surround, walk-in closet, and over-sized windows. Some floor plans include a raised ceiling and sliding terrace doors, offering views of the city. The ground floor of the building offers future retail tenant space and a private entrance, lobby and elevator for the residences. Pro Con incorporated sustainable design into each phase of construction and operation of the building. The goal is to have The Residences at Portwalk attain a 31% improvement in energy performance when compared to a similar building. The 2012 Building New Hampshire Awards ceremony was held at the Portsmouth Harbor Events & Conference Center, New Hampshire's first LEED-certified conference facility; which was designed and built by Pro Con Inc in 2010. The awards were presented by Seacoast Inc, a media, event, and custom publishing company.
