PROCON selected for 168,000 s/f Brightview Senior Living

February 16, 2018 - Connecticut

Shelton, CT Foundation work is underway on a new Brightview Senior Living Community. The latest addition to Brightview’s assortment of communities is located at 30 Beard Sawmill Rd. off Rte. 8. Brightview Senior Living Development chose their longstanding partner PROCON of Manchester, N.H. as the architect and construction manager for the 168,000 s/f continuum senior living community.

The Shelton community is PROCON’s ninth collaboration with Brightview and the second to be located in Connecticut. In 2016, PROCON completed the 70,000 s/f Brightview on New Canaan in Norwalk. Shelton’s design features 161 apartments in a variety of styles and care options.  The apartment choices include 87 independent living, 48 assisted living and 26 Wellspring Village apartment homes. Wellspring Village is a specialized Brightview neighborhood designed to enhance the lives of those living with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia.

PROCON’s vice president of architecture, Erik Anderson, expressed that he and his team made a concerted effort to design the community so that it would draw the residents outside. “Our intent was to blur the lines between indoors and outdoors. We focused on bringing as much natural light as possible into the building through the use of cathedral ceilings, glazed walls, and dormers,” said Anderson.

Work began on the Shelton community in November, 2017 and it will open to residents in spring, 2019.
