R.I. health centers awarded $6 million grant for expansion/renovations

Community health centers in R.I. will be able to serve new patients because of $6 million in federal grants.
The grants were announced by R.I.'s congressional delegation. senator Jack Reed says the money will help health centers expand operations and increase access to affordable medical and dental care.
Thundermist Health Center is set to receive $5 million for construction at its South Kingstown facility and another $230,000 for improvements at its West Warwick dental office.
The East Bay Community Action Program and Comprehensive Community Action will also receive $500,000 apiece for improvements to their health centers.
The expansions and improvements mean the centers will be able to serve an estimated 2,700 new patients.
