REBA Spring Conf. May 5th at the DCU Center, Worcester, Mass.
Jeffrey Fuhrer, executive vice president and director of research at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, will deliver the luncheon keynote address at the Real Estate Bar's Spring Conference on Monday, May 5th, at the DCU Center in Worcester.
Fuhrer will discuss the current residential foreclosure crisis and turmoil in the global credit markets.
"The seize-up of credit markets around the globe is having a profound impact here in Mass.," said Paul Alphen, REBA's president. "Fuhrer will offer our members timely counsel and thoughtful insights on what we can expect in the months ahead. This is a not to be-missed program."
In addition to the luncheon keynote speaker, the conference will include eight timely break-out sessions on a variety of topics, including:
*Defending borrowers in the foreclosure process,
*Title issues involving foreclosure practice and,
*An introduction to REBA's proposed new form of due authority opinion.
The programs will include a legislative update of recent and pending legislation and recent developments in Mass. case law. Over 800 lawyers and other real estate professionals will attend the all-day conference.
A highlight of the conference will be the giving of the Richard B. Johnson Award, the association's lifetime achievement award to Philip Lapatin of Holland & Knight LLP.
The year 2008 is Lapatin's 30th year of providing case law updates at the association's twice-yearly meetings. For three decades Lapatin has informed, educated and entertained real estate lawyers. The honor is named for a beloved member of the conveyancing bar and WWII hero at the battle of Normandy who died in the early 1970s.
