MLS members, an important faction of the state's real estate industry, whose accumulated sales volume since 1958, exceeds $20 million. The Maine MLS was created to formally organize a marketplace for the sale of Maine properties; to render a public service by cooperation in creating a broader and more active market for real estate; to facilitate the transaction of business between members and thus stimulate the volume of business; to give buyer and seller a medium by which real estate may be merchandised more effectively and efficiently; and to encourage Realtors to uphold the high standards of business incorporated in the Realtor Code of Ethics.
