Darien, CT Penny Wickey of Saugatuck Commercial Real Estate (SCRE), representing the developer/landlord, brokered two leases at 1897 Post Rd. Both tenants are new to the city. MakeInspires offers STEM and related programming for K-12 students and adults and Curated Kitchens & Living is the first brick-and-mortar showroom and café for local designer Suzie Mariniello. Both tenants are scheduled to open winter 2026.

The local developer, Jon and Joe Vaccaro, V20 Group Darien, replaced a former bank pad site with a mixed-use property which includes five luxe residential units over two boutique retail spaces. Wickey was the listing broker on both transactions while Gregg Gropper of Lee Associates represented MakeInspires.

Laure Aubuchon of Saugatuck Commercial Real Estate with Wickey represented Aubuchon Company in purchasing the former Walgreens pharmacy at 21 Kingstown Rd. in Richmond, RI. The purchase facilitated the relocation of the recent acquisition of Wyoming Ace Hardware in Wyoming, RI by Aubuchon Hardware and will be rebranded as “Aubuchon Ace Hardware.”

Wyoming Ace Hardware opened in 2003 and was owned and operated by Rick and Linda Osborne.

“Rick built Wyoming Ace Hardware with heart, purpose, and a deep connection to the community,” said William Aubuchon, IV, president and CEO. “For more than 22 years, he’s created more than just a store, he’s built a trusted place where neighbors come together. We’re honored to carry that spirit forward as we open our first store in Rhode Island and reimagine it in a new location in Richmond.”

Founded by William Aubuchon, Sr. in 1908, the Aubuchon Company is one of the oldest and largest family-owned group of hardware stores in America. Now in its fourth generation, the purpose of the Aubuchon Company is “to make a difference by serving others.” Following the purchase of Wyoming Ace Hardware, the Aubuchon Company will operate 131 stores in 11 states, predominantly under the “Aubuchon Hardware” & “Aubuchon Ace Hardware” brands and others. Aubuchon Hardware joined the ACE cooperative in September 2023.
