Cambridge, MA Acentech has expanded its technology group. Frank Scala, RCDD, PSP, CTS, principal; Benjamin Thirakul, CTS-D, associate principal; and Whit Love, CTS, consultant, have joined Acentech to broaden the firm’s consulting capabilities in audiovisual systems design, security systems design, technology advisory services, and smart buildings.

Each brings their own in-depth knowledge and skillset to Acentech’s technology consulting practice. Their combined 30+ years of experience expands the firm’s service offerings to clients across Acentech’s key market sectors, and the commercial real estate industry. 

Scala is a versatile building technology consultant with 24 years of experience in hands-on system integration and design consulting with a specialization in security systems and smart building solutions. His knowledge of the latest technologies in digital connectivity and system integration in the built environment informs his practice. Scala consults on initial technology planning and assessment, managing all design phases including budgeting, construction administration, and commissioning. He is an Audiovisual and Integrated Experience Association (AVIXA) Certified Technology Specialist (CTS); a Building Industry Consulting Service International (BICSI) Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD); an American Society for Industrial Security (ASIS) Physical Security Professional (PSP); and a member of the physical security steering committee with ASIS. He is also an accredited professional of WiredScore and SmartScore building technology rating systems. He earned his B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Wentworth Institute of Technology.

Thirakul is an audiovisual systems designer with 10 years of experience in planning and designing systems for a wide variety of spaces including educational facilities, courthouses, mixed-use commercial buildings, museums, casinos, athletic facilities, as well as community and performing arts. He is responsible for project management and documentation throughout the entire life cycle of a project, from concept design to commissioning once the installation is complete. He is an AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist in Design (CTS-D) and is a member of the Audio Engineering Society (AES). Thirakul earned a bachelor of science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

Love is an audiovisual and sound systems designer with a background in operating, designing, and deploying AV experiences for concert venues, convention centers, worship spaces, and educational facilities. He has led AV teams for events of all scales, from major concert events to corporate functions for Fortune 500 companies. He collaborates with Acentech’s clients on a wide range of projects, including the development of audiovisual system design documentation and system performance testing. Love holds an AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) accreditation. He earned a cachelor of Music and Sound Recording Technology degree from the University of Massachusetts Lowell.
