Winchester, MA According to SV Design, J. Benjamin Scott, CPHC received PHIUS (Passive House) certification and was promoted to senior project manager/building science on the firm’s institutional and multifamily team.

Scott joined SV Design in 2017 and has 20 years of experience designing affordable and mixed-use multi-family buildings, community spaces, corporate interiors, net-zero single family, and high-end residential architecture. His passion for building science and resilient design began early in his career, and becoming a Passive House Certified Consultant (CPHC) reflects his commitment to sustainability, energy efficiency, and creating healthy indoor environments.

“Receiving my Passive House Certification allows our firm access to resources and a network of peers who also have a deep interest in well-designed wall assemblies and building systems,” said Scott. “I am grateful for the support of SV Design in furthering my education and its dedication to reducing environmental impact, fostering healthy buildings, and providing clients with spaces that work smarter and last longer.”

The Passive House standard focuses on maximizing energy efficiency through high-performance insulation, airtight construction, and advanced ventilation systems.

By meeting these rigorous criteria, SV Design is able to provide resilient architectural designs that significantly reduce energy consumption while ensuring optimal comfort for occupants.

“Whether certified or not, we utilize Passive House principles in all of our designs, which results in highly energy efficient buildings,” said Stefano Basso, AIA, principal. “This is a key component of SV Design’s mission to improve the sustainability and resiliency of our buildings and communities.”
