Shea joins Choate Hall & Stewart as partner

According to Choate, Hall & Stewart LLP, James Shea, Jr., formerly the co-chair of the Real Estate Department at Edwards Angell Palmer & Dodge, has joined the firm as a partner in its real estate department. Shea will continue to focus his practice on representing public and private developers, contractors, and lenders, with an emphasis on public/private partnerships. Shea's experience includes: the phased, mixed use 2.5 million s/f development on the South Boston waterfront; the 470,000 s/f Manulife headquarters office building on Congress St.; the 550 unit Seaport Apartments project on D St. and the adjacent 455 room Marriott Renaissance Hotel; the Hilton Hotel at Logan Airport and the development of the 1.7 million s/f Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. Shea also represented private developers, including the developers of the Marriot Courtyard Hotel in Copley Sq. and the Hotel Indigo in West Newton. "Shea is one of the most talented, experienced, and highly regarded real estate attorneys in Boston, and we are very excited to have this preeminent lawyer joining our firm," said William Gelnaw and John Nadas, Choate, Hall & Stewart's co-managing partners. Shea received his J.D. from Harvard Law School and his A.B., magna cum laude, from Harvard College. He is admitted to practice in Mass. and the D.C. and is chair of the Economic Development Committee of NAIOP.
