John Sinnott

John Sinnott has joined Gilbane Building Company's Rhode Island district as district manager. In this role, Sinnott will be responsible for overseeing excellence in execution of all facets of Gilbane's Rhode Island operations. Gilbane's Rhode Island district is staffed with over 200 Rhode Island-based employees who deliver a full range of preconstruction, construction and program management services to clients in the commercial, institutional and public markets throughout the state.

Sinnott will work closely with construction operations, business development, and finance to ensure customer satisfaction, quality, training, and adherence to policies and procedures. He will also provide strategic direction to continue and enhance Gilbane's long-term position in the Rhode Island community.

Sinnott re-joins Gilbane, where he began his construction career in 1980. Based on his strong commitment to community service, Sinnott later elected to pursue personal interests through a two-year volunteer position in Haiti, where he used his construction knowledge to help build much needed healthcare and infrastructure related projects. Following his return to the U.S., he owned and operated a construction company in Rhode Island for nearly 10 years. Most recently, Sinnott held positions of leadership with construction and development firms Struever Bros. Eccles & Rouse, Inc. and Starwood Wasserman.

Sinnott's experience spans public and private construction, and his understanding of both the development and construction aspects of the business will further Gilbane's mission to achieve excellence in client satisfaction on every project.

"It is especially gratifying to welcome John Sinnott back to Gilbane," said Daniel P. McConaghy, Senior Vice President, Regional Manager for Gilbane's New England Region. "John's understanding of the Gilbane culture and his commitment to our core values will make him a very strong asset to Gilbane and to our clients."

Sinnott's longstanding and respected position in the Rhode Island community has been furthered by his involvement with the Providence Foundation, Rhode Island Economic Policy Council, LISC Local Advisory Committee, and GrowSmart RI. He also continues his commitment to community outreach through his involvement with Habitat for Humanity (Guatemala), D'Abate School mentoring, and Old Rochester Youth Football coach.

John Sinnott earned a Bachelor's of Science in Civil Engineering from Brown University. He currently resides Mattapoisett, MA, with his wife Cathleen and children Colleen, Terry, and Desmond Sinnott.
