In June, Kristin Geenty, SIOR, Kevin Geenty, SIOR, and Mikki Geenty hosted a catered wine tasting party at their home in Guilford, for the members of the Connecticut Chapters of SIOR and CCIM. A $10 donation to benefit the Patriot Guard Riders of CT (PGR) was requested of the 60 people in attendance. A sum of $600 was raised and donated.
Both the CCIM and SIOR Chapters at subsequent meetings felt compelled to match the $600 raised at the party. The check presentation took place at the Essex Yacht Club during the annual CCIM/SIOR networking get-together which was organized by Jeff Ryer, SIOR, CCIM and John Cafasso, CCIM.
The Patriot Guard Riders is a nationwide volunteer organization of 232,000 volunteers in the United States and 1,300 volunteers in Connecticut. The sole purpose of the PGR is to show respect to active military, veterans, and retired military personnel. PGR performs various "missions" including greeting military personnel returning home from combat, support at funerals, and lending all kinds of assistance to homeless veterans.
