Fairfield, CT The Connecticut/Western Massachusetts chapter of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors recently sponsored an evening Blues concert at the Fairfield Theatre Company to support Habitat for Humanity’s Veteran’s Initiative. A fun evening featuring two spectacular artists, Jane Lee Hooker and SaRon Crenshaw, performed original and cover rock as well as out-of-your-seat blues. All in attendance had a great time.

Army veteran Amodi Todd passionately spoke to the audience before the concert began, and expressed her gratitude about what it means to now be living in a new Habitat home with her family.  Pushed to the brink of homelessness with her children and husband shortly after returning from active duty, Amodi praised Habitat’s generous opportunity for a veteran to qualify and purchase a home through the Habitat for Heroes program.

Once selected, a veteran like Amodi commits to 500 hours of sweat equity during construction and to repay the low interest home loan.  Amodi’s Habitat home is also fully ADA accessible to assist her husband Ricke, who is recovering from a serious traumatic brain injury.

Proceeds from the evening’s ticket sales, several generous sponsors, and a silent auction will be used to help build additional homes for Connecticut-based veterans through the Habitat for Humanity organization.  A total of $8,115 was raised from the concert, directly benefiting Habitat for Humanity of Coastal Fairfield County.
