Cambridge, MA Skanska joined EF Education First to celebrate the topping out of EF III, EF’s third new building in the North Point neighborhood. In typical EF fashion, the celebration featured a surprise performance from a prominent local band – this time, Quincy rockers The Dropkick Murphys – to commemorate the hard work being done by the Ironworkers of Local 7, as well as the raising and installation of the last steel beam at this transformative mixed-use development that will bring acres of new public health and wellness amenities to the neighborhood when it opens in 2019.

“We are thrilled to collaborate with EF once again to help them realize their vision for North Point and thank the construction team and Local 7 for their hard work to achieve this milestone,” said Skanska EVP Bryan Northrop.

EF’s new 300,000 s/f, 12-story building is scheduled to open in late spring 2019. The ground floor will be completely dedicated to public space with a mix of uses throughout the upper floors, including new student housing, general office and administrative space, and above-grade parking. The ground floor will include a public fitness center with a rock climbing wall, café, public restrooms and hundreds of new public bike parking spaces.

Skanska has been in partnership with EF for a number of years, having completed the company’s headquarters located in North Point which is known for its visually impressive and architecturally inspiring waterfall façade.
