Soden of the Green Roundtable presents LEED update at September chapter meeting

In NECA’s ongoing commitment to and leadership in sustainable design and construction, the September meeting of the Boston Chapter focused on the role of the electrical contractor on LEED projects. Colleen Ryan Soden, LEED AP, manager of technical assistance for the Green Roundtable, the Mass. affiliate of the US Green Building Council presented the program the program and approximately 50 Boston chapter firms were in attendance. The Green Roundtable provides training for LEED accreditation. Within the presentation, it was noted that costs of design and construction of a building that meets standards for a Platinum LEED rating, the highest level achievable by the U.S. Green Building Council, has an average of only 6.8% additional building cost than non-LEED buildings.
