Sotheby's International lists former property of Nobel Prize winner - Listed for $14.85 million

The former residence of Albert Szent-Gyorgyi, who won the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine in 1937, is the exclusive listing of Sotheby's International Realty, Inc., executives of the real estate brokerage firm announced today. Known as "Seven Winds," the estate was recently chosen by the duPont Registry, a luxury buyer's guide, to be featured in a showcase of the top ten outdoor living areas in the country. The property is being offered for $14.85 million. "This listing is a true gem," said Sotheby's International Realty listing agent Jack Cotton. "This is a wonderful opportunity for a buyer interested in a bluff-top property that has views of both sunrises over Great Harbor and sunsets over Buzzards Bay." "It's truly an enchanting setting," said Sotheby's International Realty agent Pat Thatcher, who shares the listing with Cotton. "In addition to the main house, the property has a beach house that is literally right on the beach, enjoying the magical sounds of the waves right at its doorstep." The classic circa 1900 shingle-style home and beach house benefit from nearly 400 feet of private beach. Residing on almost 1.5 acres of lawns and gardens, the main residence hosts views from all of its principal rooms, including its seven bedrooms. With nearly 6,400 s/f of living area, the home offers custom woodwork and cabinetry, polished hardwood and richly carpeted floors, recessed lighting and wall-to-wall multi-pane windows. The self-contained beach house hosts a well-equipped kitchen, oversized great room with cathedral ceiling, fireplace and beachfront decks. The 1,300 s/f home features two bedrooms and two baths. A deepwater dock is large enough to accommodate a significant vessel. Sotheby's International Realty was founded in 1976 as a real estate service for discerning clients of Sotheby's auction house and represents fine properties at a range of price points. Today, Sotheby's operates brokerage offices in key metropolitan and resort markets, including Manhattan; the Hamptons; Greenwich, Conn.; Cape Cod; Palm Beach, Fla.; Los Angeles; Beverly Hills; Brentwood; Pasadena; Santa Barbara; San Francisco; Sonoma; Monterey Peninsula; and Santa Fe, New Mexico.
