South Coast Improvement awarded $500,000 renovation of Olmsted Place

Brookline, MA South Coast Improvement Co. (SCI) was awarded a $500,000 project to renovate Olmsted Place, the Memory Care Unit at Goddard House Assisted Living at 165 Chestnut St. SCI was hired by Senior Living Residences (SLR).

Improvements will include: New paint, wallpaper, and flooring throughout the corridors and many common areas; new lighting in the corridors and common areas; new cabinets and solid surfaces in four kitchens in the unit.

Additionally, the project will include: Full gut and renovation of the salon; exterior deck work.

“For every project we undertake, particularly at assisted living facilities, we put processes in place to minimize disruption to residences. With memory care units, those processes receive even more attention. There is no such thing as overcommunication with staff and management at the facility. It’s probably the reason why we count SLR as one of our repeat clients, because of the work we do and how we work,” said Tom Quinlan, president of South Coast Improvement.

Construction began at the Goddard House in September and will conclude in December.

Founded in 1849, Goddard House is the oldest elder care organization in Massachusetts, and the third oldest in America. It’s Olmsted Place program or Memory Care Unit, includes 40 apartments for residents with Alzheimer’s, dementia and other cognitive issues. SLR, a Boston-based leader in providing innovative, service-enriched Independent Living, Assisted Living and Alzheimer’s care for seniors across New England, operates Goddard House and Olmsted Place.
