Middletown, RI South Coast Improvement Company (SCI), a design-build general contractor serving New England and the Mid-Atlantic states, was awarded the contract for the build-out of SouthCoast Health’s new Urgent Care Center at 672 Aquidneck Ave. This represents the sixth Urgent Care South Coast Improvement has built for SouthCoast Health, a not-for-profit, community-based health system with multiple access points, offering an integrated continuum of health services throughout southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

But it does improve your focus quite a bit when you realize the important role these centers play in the community.”
Urgent care centers are equipped with staff and equipment to treat a wide range of medical situations – e.g. broken bones, contusions, cuts, burns, animal bites, etc. Urgent care centers provide patients with less serious injuries an option to the emergency room at the hospital.
The new urgent care center is a renovation of 2,652 s/f of space and work will include exam rooms, clean rooms, bathrooms, X-ray rooms, reception areas, offices, labs, vendor and provider spaces and waiting rooms. Additionally, the project will feature custom millwork, AD sliding door systems, new hospital grade air exchange system, as well as other hospital grade finishes. South Coast Improvement will build the facility to meet the requirements of SouthCoast Health’s X-ray Equipment, as well as all of their fixturing requirements.
The architect on the project is Vision 3 Architects of Providence. The project engineer is Davey Associates of East Greenwich.
Total cost of the project is $1.8 million. Construction began in October and will finish in April 2019.
