Suffolk Construction named construction manager for $77 million Boston Wharf Tower

Suffolk Construction has been selected to manage construction on the 20-story, 258,000 s/f Boston Wharf Tower project. Located at 319 A St. Rear in the city's Innovation District, the $77 million project will feature 202 rental units and a four-level, above-grade parking garage with 96 spaces. Suffolk recently joined state and local dignitaries, developer Gerding Edlen, and architecture firm ADD Inc to celebrate the groundbreaking of the Boston Wharf Tower project. Event attendees had the opportunity to preview an "interpretation" of a residential unit from the Boston Wharf Tower, fabricated on site by the Suffolk project team and designed by a local artist. The one-day interactive display highlighted the creativity of the Fort Point Channel region and demonstrated the district's support for new residential development in the area. Designed to maximize space and minimize energy usage, the project will be built to achieve a minimum of LEED Silver certification. The Boston Wharf Tower project is Gerding Edlen's first development in the area. Construction is scheduled for completion in January 2014.
