Center Place at Coolidge Corner, a $1 million project, has been completed, with anchor tenant Pure Blu Jeans recently opening on the ground floor.
The two-story building at 1309 Beacon St., constructed in the alley beside Trader Joe's, was designed to provide urban continuity of retail along the busy commercial block.
"We're pleased with how the design of this 'infill development' blends with the adjacent three-story building," said developer Roberta Sydney, president of Sydney Associates. "It was a challenge to turn the alley into an attractive building that looks as though it has always been there."
Pure Blu Jeans occupies 1,850 s/f, with 1,374 s/f of office space available upstairs for rental. It also has an underground garage with 75 spaces for office tenants and employees, in addition to the reconfigured original 35 parking spaces in the back. The building is constructed in brick with precast concrete bands and accents.
The storefront glass adds life and vitality to the pedestrian experience along Beacon St., according to Hans Strauch, president of HDS Architecture, project architect.
Center Place is the result of a collaborative process between developer Sydney, HDS and the Brookline Planning Board.
