What are you doing differently in 2019 that has had a positive impact on your career? Despite my natural instinct to be heads down to get the work done and focus on the task at hand, I’ve been put in a position where I am not interfacing with clients more and leading coordination with consultants.

What was your first job and what did you learn from it? From the time I was twelve and through high school, I worked for my mother as an assistant in her small business services company. I learned that there were going to be tasks I didn’t like to do in life, but it was still necessary to do them.

What was your first job and what did you learn from it? My first job in the industry was as a design/sales rep for a commercial furniture dealership. I learned so much from that experience, including how to be solutions-oriented and how to work collaboratively with other designers, industry peers and end users. 

Career highlight and what inspires you: I love working within the field of design and construction as it is full of creative problem solvers always seeking to push the envelope – my colleagues and peers inspire me daily. I value the flexibility provided by Acentech that enables me to pursue a career that is fulfilling, while also being an active and engaged parent to my two young children.

Career Highlight: I’ve been continuously inspired by the smart, multi-talented people I have met during nearly 30 years in this industry. My colleagues encouraged me to push the envelope creatively, which helped us to win an SMPS People’s Choice Award for Pebble and Acorn, a coloring book I designed to inspire kids to want to learn about sound.

Career highlight: I recently had the opportunity to work with music and theater faculty at Beaver Country Day School to assess the acoustical conditions of their multipurpose performance hall. While we work on projects of this nature often, this one was unique because we had the opportunity to develop a 3DListening demonstration as a way of assessing multiple options for improvement.

How many years have you been in your current field? 17 What inspires you: I am inspired by people who pursue their dreams!

What inspires you: I’m extremely grateful and proud that I have the opportunity to teach acoustics at Berklee College of Music. Teaching has given me an outlet for self-improvement in public speaking and a growing breadth of knowledge on acoustics and audio.

What inspires you: As an immigrant, I feel privileged to have be able to pursue my passion and earn a master of science in Architectural Acoustics from RPI. I am honored to work in an industry, and specifically in a company, where people from diverse backgrounds are welcomed and celebrated.

What inspires you? My desire to meet people from all walks of life and to discover different cultures motivated me to move to Boston from Brussels, right after I graduated from college. At Acentech it is wonderful to have a group of female colleagues who are always very kind to share their knowledge and advice, not only on a professional level but on a personal level as well.

What are you doing differently in 2019 that has had a positive impact on your career? I was recently deployed to the Middle East for the majority of 2018. I am extremely grateful to be home and grateful for the support from Lee Kennedy upon my return. While overseas, I assumed a similar role to that of an owner’s project manager.

What project, transaction, honor or accomplishment are you most proud of? When I first saw the sad state of the 267-foot Ayer Mill Clock Tower in Lawrence, once the symbol of America’s textile industry, made possible by generations of hardworking immigrants, I wanted to restore it.
