Tapponi promoted to Village Bank branch manager

West Newton, MA Ghazwan Tapponi has been promoted to manager of the The Village Bank’s local branch. Tapponi joined The Village Bank’s retail team in January 2018 and quickly made an impact. He was promoted several times in the next two years, and in August 2020, he transferred to assistant branch manager at the Newtonville location, where he worked until his most recent promotion.

Tapponi will oversee the daily operation in town. He completed the bank’s supervisor training program in October 2019. In December 2020, he completed the manager training program with the Massachusetts Bankers Association. Tapponi holds a degree in information technology from Al-Mustansiriya University in Baghdad, Iraq.

The Village Bank, chartered by the state in 1910, has eight full-service offices in Newton and Wayland, and a Loan Center in Upper Falls. With assets of close to $1.7 billion, The Village Bank was voted one of the top places to work by the Boston Globe for 2020. The Bank is a member of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) and the Depositors Insurance Fund (DIF).
