Thanks to my board and committee members

January 02, 2008 - Connecticut

Ronald Eddy - President

As 2007 comes to an end, I wish to take this opportunity to thank my Board and committee members for the time and effort they have contributed to the Association. This organization could not offer the monthly programs, networking socials, golf outing, and education courses if these people did not give so readily of their time. Included in the 2008 dues renewal packets was a sign-up sheet to join one, or more of the committees. I encourage all members to chose a committee they wish to join and forward that sheet to the executive office. This organization would not be able to offer all it does without the continued support of the members.
Our holiday social, planned for December 13th at Joe Blacks on Pratt St. in Hartford, had to be postponed due to the snowstorm that hit the state that day. A new date will be planned in January. The members will be notified of the date and I hope to see everyone who registered for this event to sign up for the January date. Our event sponsor is New England Mechanical, and our cocktail sponsor is Premier Maintenance. Three charities will be presented a check from the Association: FoodShare, Mercy Housing and Shelter and, thanks to Griffin Land's generosity, Habitat for Humanity will also receive a check.
As we enter into 2008, the program committee has developed many great monthly programs. The January program, hosted by CL&P, will discuss time of day metering that will take place soon. As owners and managers of commercial real estate properties, we all know how the energy costs affect our budget. Join us in January at CL&P's building on the Berlin Tpke. to hear how we can lower this expense. Bring your engineer to this program.

I am pleased to announce that Greater Hartford BOMA will be the host of the 2008 Middle Atlantic Conference. This yearly event is hosted by a local BOMA in the Middle Atlantic Region. The 2008 MAC will take place at Foxwoods Resort. Mark your calendar for April 23-25, 2008 and join us as we offer great education seminars, networking events, a golf outing at the beautiful Lake of Isles, and the prestigious TOBY Awards dinner honoring the Middle Atlantic Region winners. More information will be mailed in early 2008, and will be available on the MAC web site at www.bomamac.org.
All 2008 dues invoices have been mailed to the 2007 members. I would like to take this opportunity to encourage all of the members to renew for 2008.The 2008 EER Survey is going green this year and the survey will be available in December. This extremely useful tool is a 'must have' for every property owner. I encourage all managers to enter their property's information. By doing so, you will help all of the buildings in the Greater Hartford area, and you will be able to purchase an EER for your own use at a discounted rate. Watch your email for a link to the survey in December.

I would like to wish all of the members and their families a very happy and healthy holiday season, and a prosperous 2008.
Ronald Eddy of Griffin Land is president of BOMA Hartford.
