As many entrepreneurs' modest beginnings, at age 10 Tim Londregan had a newspaper route. At 12 he bought a snow blower for his snow removal business. At 14, on top of his two summer jobs cleaning the kitchens of Fred's Shanty and Mar Gra's, two seasonal restaurants along the waterfront of New London, Londregan rented a New York Style hot dog cart and established Tim's Dog Cart which he operated along the beaches of New London. At age 15 he bought that cart, and at 16 he and his father went to The Bronx and purchased a second cart on which Londregan put his siblings to work in the business in other areas around the city.
After graduating with a Hotel Administration degree from the University of New Hampshire, Londregan went to work for Hilton Hotels Corporation in New Jersey, Virginia and New York. Londregan concluded his career with Hilton at a point that he was one of the youngest directors of sales in the company. While employed by Hilton, Londregan bought and sold real estate for his own account and invested with others in Virginia and New Jersey. In his first ever transaction, in the mid-eighties, probably the one that eventually led to his full time leap to the real estate business in the late eighties, was the single transaction that netted him and his wife a short-term gain of more than two times his annual Hilton salary at the time.
In a conscious decision by Tim and his wife Dawn to settle down and start a family of their own, the two left corporate life, their double incomes, and their dual residences in Virginia and New York. The two moved back to Connecticut near much of their family, most importantly, near the grandparents of their children-to-be. Tim and Dawn now live in Old Lyme with their four children, Lauren, TJ, Allison and Ryan.
A snowboarder and an avid skier since the age of seven, Londregan has raced competitively through his days at Merrimack College. Most recently Londregan competed in the Bear Mountain Mogul Challenge at Killington. While Tim and Dawn and the kids spend many winter weekends at the family home in Killington, Vt., Tim also travelled to Colorado and New Mexico for the more challenging terrain and more abundant snow.
Steadily lowering his still double-digit handicap, Londregan has learned to make great use of his blackberry on more than the occasional early summer morning and late spring and fall afternoons. The highlight of his golfing career has got to be the Father & Son golf tournament in Ireland that Tim, his brothers Steve, Mike and Chris along with their father, Frank, competed in on the legendary links of Ballybunion and Waterville Golf Clubs.
Possibly biased due to his Italian heritage, Londregan's favorite city is Rome. The most recent visit to Rome included Dawn and their children as it was the tail end of a spiritual trek to the village of Medjugorje in Bosnia, Hercegovina and the magnificent coastline of Croatia and the city of Dubrovnik during the summer of 2007.
Londregan enjoys relaxing with Skiing magazine, Golf Digest, a motivational book, a game of backgammon or monopoly, and watching a great movie with his family.
In a quest to continually diversify his business interests, Londregan recently produced a film that deals with the realities of torturous interrogations around the world. The film, entitled Profile, is now available on DVD at ProfileTheFilm.com.
As another diversification of their business interests, while always in a quest to identify and seize opportunity, Tim and Dawn have recently joined their brothers and sisters-in-law in the Telecom business, ACN. Endorsed by billionaire entrepreneur Donald Trump, for the company's business model and the quality of its products and services, the Londregan family network consists of nearly 500 representatives and over 2,300 customers saving money and making money, in just a short period of time, and growing every day.
While focusing the days' activities on marketing select commercial real estate, Londregan has also involved himself in ownership and development projects in New London, Gales Ferry, Norwich and Old Lyme. The most ambitious project to date is The Huntley Wind Cooperative, two 1.5 Megawatt wind turbines that are in the design phase for a 34-acre property in Old Lyme that is owned by Londregan.
Londregan currently serves on the board of directors and as auction committee chair of The Connecticut Sports Foundation Against Cancer. Londregan is a past president of the YMCA of Southeastern Connecticut, where he served as a director for 17 years. Londregan has co-chaired a golf tournament for the benefit of his high school scholarship fund and he is on the Development Committee for a new gymnasium for Sacred Heart School. Londregan currently serves on the board of distributors of the Shea Perpetual Trust Fund.
