UK Architects and ReArch Co. honored for historic preservation

21 Water St. at the Monadnock Mills was named an AIA-NH (American Institute of Architects - N.H. chapter) Excellence in Design Merit Award recipient as an example of historic preservation and urban redevelopment. Designed by UK Architects, who received the award, and built by construction manager ReArch Company, the project was restored to the US Park Service's Historic Preservation guidelines and utilized both Historic Preservation and New Market tax credits as part of its project financing. The developer was Sugar River Mills Redevelopment, LLC, which is owned and operated by John Illick, owner and operator of ReArch Co. and Technology Park in South Burlington. In addition to critical acclaim the project has been cited by governor John Lynch and senator Jeanne Shaheen as an outstanding reuse of an existing property and one that will act as the centerpiece of the city's ongoing downtown revitalization efforts.
