United Steel continues work on 106,600 sf Fermi wing of Enfield High School

The structural steel group of United Steel began work in early October 2014 on the 106,600 s/f Fermi wing of Enfield High School. Phase One was completed in April, and phase two began in March. With over 5,000 shop hours and 4,000 field hours, their team has fabricated and erected the 555 tons of steel needed for this project. United Steel is one of New England's largest providers of structural and miscellaneous metals, and is in the process of producing metal stairs for Enfield High School. The school enrolls over 800 students and United Steel looks forward to completing work on the building. Occupancy is expected in the Fermi wing before the end of this year. The award-winning manufacturer operates a 165,000 s/f automated fabrication facility in East Hartford, and employs more than 160 individuals.
