Upcoming events scheduled for Southern Conn. BOMA

May 15, 2008 - Connecticut
The Mid Atlantic Regional Conference hosted by BOMA Greater Hartford at Foxwoods Resort & Casino at the end of April was a great success.
Henry Chamberlain, president of BOMA International, opened the conference with a discussion about the national leadership role BOMA is taking in the market transformation that is unfolding. The "take home" bullet point is that BOMA is actively working to educate and compel the industry to self-regulate in order to stay ahead of the legislative and regulatory curve. BOMA, working in new strategic partnerships, is quantifying the real estate industry's transformation. The economics of "green" are becoming very compelling. I commend the voluntary leadership of BOMA International, Henry Chamberlain, and the professional staff at BOMA for the effective work they have done in the last several years and I encourage you to see and hear for yourself about this transformation by attending the BOMA International Convention in June.
Now, you are going to want to take note of what is upcoming for Southern Connecticut BOMA:
A "Green Expo" will be held on May 29th at High Ridge Park from 4:30 - 8 p.m. where new and innovative products and practices will be highlighted. Cocktails and dinner follow.
Do you have any kids in college? Please don't forget to have them register to become eligible for the two $2,000 scholarships that will be awarded (randomly) at the 20th Annual Scholarship Golf Outing at Woodbridge Country Club on June 10th. Register for the golf event right away because the foursomes fill quickly.
On Thursday, September 4th we will hold our 1st Annual Bluefish Fishing Tournament. We have a limited number of boats available and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. For you non-fisherpersons, there will be a clam bake following the fishing tournament at 5:00 p.m.
And don't forget to bring the young people (future leaders) in your organization. They need to network as much as the rest of us.
Robert Hartt of The Ashforth Company is president of Southern Connecticut BOMA.
