Upcoming fall BOMA Boston programs and the 2018 TOBY and Industry Awards

Boston, MA BOMA celebrated the end of summer with an August Networking Nite held at Ned Devine’s in Faneuil Hall. With over 70 in attendance, BOMA Boston members and non-members enjoyed a fun night of hors d’oeuvres, drinks and networking.

Join the BOMA Boston engineers on September 12 as they host a discussion with Lt. Paul Fitzpatrick with the Boston Fire Department on construction fire safety and prevention plans. A focus of the conversation will be on the NFPA241 and the following items: What the Boston Construction Safety Unit is and what they do; Changes and requirements of the NFPA241; Project specific vs. building specific requirements; Hot work standards and NFPA25. This event will be held at Two Center Plaza from 9:15 - 10:45 a.m. and is open to all members and non-members.

Save the date for an important discussion on Cyber Security, hosted by the BOMA Preparedness Committee on October 2. Learn how to protect yourself, your company, and your resources from cyber threats. James Whalen, SVP/chief information officer at Boston Properties, will provide a primer on cyber security and commercial real estate (CRE). The session will discuss how to approach the protection of property assets and building systems in today's ever-changing threat environment. The program will take place from noon - 1:30 p.m. at Atlantic Wharf, 280 Congress St. 

On October 18, the BOMA Boston Emerging Professionals will be hosting a Behind the Scenes tour of the Innovative Design Building in the Seaport district. The tour will take place from 3:30 - 5 p.m. The Innovation Design Building is a new hub for ideas, technology, art, and entrepreneurship. The space now features office space for local businesses of all sizes, tasty food vendors, retail spaces, design showrooms, and much more. Join leaders from Jamestown who will guide attendees through the space, show off their favorite areas of the building and provide some information on both the history and the future of the building. Following the tour, attendees are welcome to head over to Tony C’s Sports Bar and Grille for networking, appetizers, and beverages. 

Each year, the Outstanding Building of The Year (TOBY) & Industry Awards recognize the best and brightest in property management, building operations and service in the real estate industry. There are 17 categories for TOBY Awards, and 10 categories for the Industry Awards. Since the TOBYs are nationally recognized, the local winners move on to regional competition, and hopefully, International competition. This year’s BOMA Boston TOBY & Industry Awards event will be taking place on November 14 at the Marriott Copley Place Hotel. BOMA’s partnership with BOMI International remains strong with nine courses scheduled for 2018 in the city. Next up in the series will be a four-day accelerated Real Estate Investment & Finance course running from September 12 - 20 at Reservoir Place in Waltham.
