The American Real Estate University (AREU) has recognized Jim VanValkenburgh of Fishman Realty Group as a REO Specialist, a designation, which requires an intensive course of study and examination to complete.

The AREU is a professional association compromised of real estate and professionals and affiliates focused on real estate education.
According to Council president, Shane Mask, "REOS designees are uniquely qualified to work with bank and HUD properties to assist buyers in the purchase process. Their progressive training in BPO's and understanding market finance options enables them to assist buyers in purchasing and lenders in moving properties."
