Vercollone of VERC Enterprises joins board of directors of the Association for Convenience & Fuel Retailing

Four new retailer members have taken their place on the board of directors for NACS, the Association for Convenience & Fuel Retailing. Leo Vercollone, president and CEO of VERC Enterprises Inc., Tim Chalk, CEO of 7-Eleven Hong Kong & Macau; Steve DeSutter, president and CEO of Stripes LLC; and Chris Gheysens, president and CEO of Wawa Inc. were elected to the board at the 2013 NACS Show in Atlanta. Vercollone joined the c-store industry in 1977 when he partnered with his father Eugene and his brother Paul to launch VERC Enterprises. He previously worked at the family car wash, which his father started in 1975. Vercollone's community activities have included the Boston College Alumni Association board of directors, Trinity Catholic Academy board of directors, chairman of the Gulf Oil Leadership Council, Global (Mobil) Alliance Dealer Council member, and vice chairman and chairman of the New England Convenience Store Association. Chalk has been CEO of 7-Eleven in Hong Kong since May 2010. DeSutter joined Susser Holdings Corp. in June 2008 and is responsible for Stripes, the company's' convenience store division. DeSutter began his career at British Petroleum, where he worked in operations, marketing and finance roles during his 18 years there. Gheysens previously held the position of chief financial and administrative officer for Wawa from January 2007 to December 2011 before becoming CEO. In total, the board now has 30 members, including three from non-North American countries. The chairman and chairman-elect of the NACS Supplier Board also serve on the board of directors.
