Wayne J. Griffin Electric begins AASF at Quonset

Wayne J. Griffin Electric, Inc. has begun electrical work at the Army Aviation Support Facility (AASF) for the Rhode Island Air National Guard at Quonset State Airport. The new 105,000 s/f facility will house administrative offices, flight operations areas, simulation training, aircraft maintenance hangar, aircraft storage hangar and related shop and storage spaces. Griffin Electric was selected as electrical contractor for the job and will install new 2500 amp, 480/277 volt service with a 400 kilowatt generator to provide full power for the new facility. Included in the project scope are controls for the state-of-the-art lighting package which includes full emergency capabilities. In addition, a new life-safety system including mass notification and fire alarm systems will be installed; power for operations including mechanical and aircraft systems; and telecommunications systems. Bacon Construction Company, Inc. of East Providence is the general contractor for the project.  Architect/electrical engineer is Jacobs Engineering. Its completion date is targeted for October 2010. Wayne J. Griffin Electric, Inc. has been in the electrical contracting business since 1978.  Headquartered in Holliston, Mass., the company also has regional offices in Pelham, AL, Duluth, GA and Raleigh, NC.  ENR (Engineering News-Record) ranked Griffin Electric No. 22 in its 2008 listing of the top 50 national electrical contractors. The company employs 1,100 individuals.
