Warwick, RI Christopher Whitten of Premeer Real Estate was chosen by his peers as the 2021 Rhode Island Realtor of the Year. The award recognizes one of more than 6,000 Realtors throughout Rhode Island for their dedication to the Realtor organization and their local communities. The statewide winner is chosen from the winner of five regional Realtor of the Year awards.

Whitten was the 2019 and 2020 president of State-Wide Multiple Listing Service, a real estate data exchange subsidiary of the Rhode Island Association of Realtors. He also served as the 2020 president of the Northern Rhode Island Board of Realtors and on numerous Realtor committees at the local and state level.

He is a past recipient of the Rookie of the Year from the Realtor Association of Central Massachusetts and the 2018 winner of the Northern Rhode Island Board’s Realtor of the Year Award. Also, among his accomplishments was the launch the Community Action Committee for the Northern Rhode Island Board of Realtors and the development of that board’s first-ever Good Neighbor Award.

Whitten, a graduate of Dean College, entered the real estate profession 13 years ago following a successful career as the co-host of a morning radio program. Today, he owns and operates Premeer Real Estate with offices in Smithfield, and Uxbridge and Auburn, Mass.

One of his proudest accomplishments as the broker/owner of Premeer Real Estate includes the inception of their Premeer Gives Back Program in 2019. For each successful closing, they make a $150 donation in their client’s name to a local charity of their client’s choice from their yearly beneficiary list. To date they have donated over $30,000 to well over 30 different local charities in the communities they serve. Whitten founded Premeer Real Estate on the premise that investing in their communities is truly investing in our future.

“We’re extremely fortunate to have Chris Whitten’s among our ranks. He’s a true professional in every sense of the word and never fails to step up to help elevate the experience of Realtors and their clients, and he is just an absolute pleasure work with and be around,” said Phil Tedesco, CEO of the Rhode Island Association of Realtors and State-Wide Multiple Listing Service.

Other contenders for the state title included four other local Realtor board winners of the Realtor of the Year award: Mary Coutu, Kent-Washington Association of Realtors; Jennifer Hilton, Newport County Board of Realtors; Donald Morash, R.I. Commercial and Appraisal Board of Realtors, and Sally Hersey, Greater Providence Board of Realtors.
