2020 Women in Construction: Kathryn Mease, Associate/Senior Interior Designer at Tecton Architects

March 27, 2020 - Spotlights

What was your greatest professional achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months? While there are many projects and client relationships that have been rewarding this year, I’m most proud of having been a part of the design team for our own Hartford office. It was a welcome challenge and privilege to be tasked with creating a space that’s functional for our staff, represents our brand and exemplifies who we are in the industry. Coming to this new space every day and getting to see the results of our work and planning has been such a unique and gratifying experience.

What are you doing differently in 2020 that has had a positive impact on your career? I have been learning more and more to rely on the fantastic team that I work with to help me keep my life in balance and to make projects better. The more we collaborate, the better things are for our teammates, our clients, our partners and the design!

Who or what inspired you to join the construction industry? For as long as I can remember, I have always been interested in how interior spaces can have a profound effect on the people that they support. The inherent potential when creating environments that make life easier, healthier, more productive, more comfortable, is compelling.

When I’m not working I am… enjoying the rest of all that life has to offer, experiencing the joy and continual surprise of raising a family and working on our historic (1840) home.
