Patrick Appleby, WinnResidential

Boston, MA WinnCompanies has named Patrick Appleby, president of WinnResidential Military Housing Services, as the president of WinnResidential, assuming leadership of all of the company’s property management operations. Appleby’s appointment is an important step in WinnCompanies’ ongoing plan to integrate the operations of WinnResidential and WinnResidential Military Housing Services (also known as WinnMilitary) under a unified organizational structure.

“Patrick has been with WinnCompanies for more than 20 years and has played a pivotal role in our exceptional growth,” said Gilbert Winn, CEO of WinnCompanies. “He has been a close advisor to me, an active member of our senior leadership team, and a partner in all of our strategic planning for the past two years.

“In that time, both WinnResidential and WinnResidential Military Housing Services have benefited from working together more closely to share best practices on training, marketing, maintenance and technology. Under Patrick’s leadership, we expect that effort to accelerate to benefit our clients, residents and team members,” Winn said.

For the past 16 years, Appleby has been the executive in charge of the more than 40,000 homes that WinnMilitary manages for members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families through a joint venture between WinnCompanies and Lendlease. He also has strong prior experience in the market rate, affordable and tax credit housing fields.

He will now oversee all military and residential property management efforts for the more than 580 communities and 100,000 units in WinnCompanies’ national portfolio.

“My goal is to advance the company’s mission of property management excellence in a highly competitive and dynamic market,” Appleby said. “Our people are the source of our success and I am proud to lead them. A focus on our people and communication, on exceeding the expectations of our clients and residents, and on operational efficiency will be key elements going forward.”

Appleby joined WinnCompanies in 1999 after collaborating with the company for many years as Vice President of Boston Financial Group. He has served on the Military Housing Committee of the National Apartment Association (NAA) since its inception, as well as the NAA’s Apartment Careers Committee. He is a Certified Property Manager with the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), as well as a Certified Specialist in Housing Credit Management (SHCM) with the National Affordable Housing Management Association (NAHMA).
