Wise Construction completes new center at Melrose - Wakefield Hospital

Wise Construction recently completed the new Cardiac and Endovascular Center at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital. Partnering with Hallmark Health Systems, the Wise team converted three occupied clinical units into a state-of-the-art diagnostic and treatment facility to support the Hospitals' strides in providing comprehensive clinical services to patients and families in communities north of Boston According to Brian Walsh, senior project executive at Wise Const., the project presented some unique challenges in working in and around an operating wing of the hospital while being sensitive to the healing environment for those using or visiting the facility. "Our project management group is committed to implementing the highest standards of operations to maintain a safe, clean and secure job site," Walsh said. "Keen coordination and cohesive teamwork were integral during installation of the latest sophisticated technology equipment that will assist the Melrose-Wakefield medical team in diagnosing and treating diseases of the heart and circulatory system." The project involved building out 8,300 s/f to support the new centers' broad array of therapies and procedures including its echo, EKG, nuclear medicine and radioactive laboratory functions. A complete upgrade of the life safety systems in the space was also conducted. Architectural services were provided by Levi Wong Design Associates.
