2019 Women in Construction: Lovette Jacobs, 2nd Year Apprentice, IBEW Local 103

March 29, 2019 - Spotlights

What were your biggest fears when you started out in your profession? When I first started in the electrical trade, I definitely experienced my share of uncertainty. I had no experience or training – I didn’t know what to do or how to do it. I was worried about whether or not I would fit in and be accepted by a predominantly male work atmosphere. Fortunately, I put my best foot forward and didn’t allow that uncertainty to stop me. I’m currently in my 2nd year of apprenticeship (3 more to go) and I’ve been learning and growing so much. I can honestly say I wake up everyday and am excited to go to work knowing that I truly enjoy my profession.
