Wentworth Institute of Technology, along with Shawmut Design and Construction, and Spagnolo Gisness & Associates, celebrated the topping off of the William H. Flanagan Campus Center, located adjacent to the Wentworth Quad, at 550 Huntington Ave.
In attendance were Tom Goemaat, CEO of Shawmut, Al Spagnola, founding partner of the architectural firm SG&A, Wentworth president Zorica Panti, and student body president Annette Balestrand, who, along with students from Wentworth, signed a commemorative beam that was then hoisted into place as part of the new building.
The Flanagan Campus Center project includes a 40,000 s/f renovation to the existing space and an 8,500 s/f addition. Construction began in May 2011 and is scheduled to be completed in August. It is named for Wentworth alumnus William H. Flanagan, Machine Construction & Tool Design Class of 1951.
