Assn. of Realtors president, Brody spent most of his time in the late 30’s playing semi-pro football and taking various college courses with plans for a full four year college program, only to be interrupted by World War II. After flying B-24 Bombers for 20 months in the South Pacific, Jim became an instructor until the end of the War. In 1945 he spent one year flying commercially and running a small airline. He became interested in real estate in 1946, mentioning the fact to friends who informed him that things were tight and a living could not be made at that time – Brody immediately opened his own office with experienced partner, John Quinn. “We started out in Springfield successfully selling homes, and I eventually became more interested in appraising, receiving my MAI in 1957 followed by my SRA and SREA. Opening my own office 10 years ago, we employ 5 full-time salespeople and try to offer as personalized service as possible. Being located in New England’s crossroads, this area will become a major distribution location. Already our industrial park is attracting industry from miles away and the $40 million downtown mall is creating much excitement.” Brody is married with three daughters residing in Longmeadow. He enjoys golf in the summer and paddleracket in the winter (played with a racket in a handball court). A member of the American Arbitration Association, Jim is the real estate counselor of the Roman Catholic Bishop and on the Board of Governors of the local YMCA.
