Jim joined the British Army in 1915 and served four years in the Royal Engineer Corps, returning in 1919 as an officer in the U.S. Army. He joined Stone & Webster in construction engineering and 12 years later, 1931, travelled to Falmouth to build a school, and decided to stay, opening a construction and real estate firm. “During the war, we had over a million dollars in government contracts and had 300 men working for us.
