Professional Profile: Louis Saab 1967

Louis Saab - 1967

Name: Louis Saab - 1967

Title: Owner

Company: Saab Realty Co.

Location: Lowell, MA

Birthplace: Lowell, MA, 1929

Education: University of Illinois; Boston University After receiving a law degree at the University of Illinois, two years in the U.S. Army, and two years of graduate work at Boston University, Louis Saab returned to his Lowell home, opening a general law practice with this brother, Tom. “All my life, I had been interested in owning real property, and in January of 1959, I purchased a small house, remodeled it, and sold it seven months later for a $3,500 profit. I next bought 50 apartment units in 13 buildings, remodeled and retained these for investment purposes.” Saab, probably Greater Lowell’s largest property owner, owns and manages three major downtown Lowell office buildings and 680 rental units. Controlling his own maintenance crew, Louis maintains a staff of 18. He also owns several large parcels of land which he would envision developing in the future. One 20-acre site on the Merrimac River will soon be used for a nursing home. “This area is just starting to blossom commercially and industrially. Our nearby neighbor, Nashua has just announced a large Sanders plant which will help the economy of the entire region. Real estate should be a very good investment here, now and in the future.” Speaking of the future, Louis has no aspirations of becoming a builder, and would be content in continuing to acquire property in Lowell and nearby towns. Although still single, Saab divides his time between an active law practice and real estate. His spare time is filled with reading, swimming, and keeping an eye open for ending his bachelorhood. A member of the Knights of Columbus, he is also a member of the Army-Navy Union and the Mass. Bar Association.
