Boston, MA After 34 years in Cambridge, architecture and interior design firm Tsoi/Kobus & Associates is relocating to 60 State St. and rebranding under the name, Tsoi Kobus Design. Recognized internationally and locally for creative design and integrative technology, Tsoi Kobus Design is moving to accommodate the evolution of its firm. Tsoi Kobus Design has applied its design expertise to its new workspace, which will include evidence-based features that support collaboration and innovation, boost employee health and wellness, and brand the firm as a leader in forward-thinking, functional design.

The firm’s rebranding aims to better represent a multi-faceted design team with diverse industry expertise. “Our new company name, Tsoi Kobus Design, is a subtle adjustment that better encompasses who we are and what we do,” said Rick Kobus, Tsoi Kobus Design principal. “Launching the new name as we move to our new office makes this an especially auspicious occasion.”

The process of designing the new space for Tsoi Kobus Design offered a welcome challenge for the firm’s diverse group of designers to rethink how they function in their own space. Tsoi Kobus Design developed a flexible and engaging design studio that offers a myriad of collaborative and independent workspaces and gathering areas.

John Moorhead, Tsoi Kobus Design associate principal, said, “We pride ourselves on being an ‘ideas’ firm, always experimenting and searching for the optimal solutions for our clients. When the opportunity came to move our office location, we jumped at the possibility to put this same great thinking to work for ourselves. We are enthusiastic about joining the Boston community of talent at our new headquarters.”

Tsoi Kobus Design’s new office, housed at 60 State St., will be one of the first spaces in the city to be certified in WELL Building Standards. WELL is a holistic building design approach that focuses on human health and well-being, addressing employee behavior, operations, and compatible/functional design. Tsoi Kobus Design is also an industry leader in pursuing and achieving LEED certification on behalf of its clients, and the firm is among the contributors to the industry guidebook, The Cost of LEEDv4.

“This is an exciting time for our firm; we have a remarkable team in place and an exciting and inspiring new office that fully supports the work we do, creating impactful and dynamic designs for our successful and innovative clients,” said Kobus.

Tsoi Kobus Design was represented by Greg Lucas, CBRE/New England in this transaction with Oxford Properties.

Now in its 34th year, Boston-based Tsoi Kobus Design is one of the nation’s leading architecture, planning, and interior design firms for science + technology, college + university, healthcare, and commercial real estate projects. The firm is known for creating environments that advance the discovery of new knowledge and for award-winning designs that combine cutting-edge technology with compassion and creativity.

Tsoi Kobus Design has been recognized by Architecture magazine as one of the top 50 architecture firms in the United States; by Architectural Record as one of the country’s “Best Managed Firms;” and by Engineering News Record as one of the top 500 design firms.
