Generations X and Y have diverse lifestyles and shopping habits stimulating new concepts with non-uniform spatial needs and shorter leases. They separate “need” and “experience.” Their lifestyles have generated ride-sharing, bike lanes, and improved public transportation opening opportunities in older neighborhoods. They like walking, talking, drinking and dining at local eateries which provide market strength for local shops. Well-located malls are being reinvented with experienced- based activities, innovative retail and services, and community meeting centers. Above all successful retail will provide ease, convenience, service, value, and memorable experiences.
