2021 Women in Construction: Anelise Bateson, Associate, Studio G Architects

What was your greatest professional achievement or most notable project in the last 12 months? The most notable project during the past 12 months is 37 Wales St. for Heading Home. The project is a new multifamily building with 23 units of permanent supportive housing in Dorchester. It will provide stable housing to formerly homeless families with incomes at or below 30% AMI and on-site support services. Located on a very tight site, the project is designed to be cost-effective, sustainable and to provide a comfortable and safe home to families in need. Construction should be starting in the Fall 2021 and I am looking forward to seeing this rewarding project come to life!

Starting out in the construction business, who or what empowered you? “Where focus goes, energy flows,” this was life changing and empowers my work in architecture and construction. If you discover that you are focusing on things that you have no control over, stop! Make a conscious decision to focus on what you CAN control. Focus on solutions instead of problems. Focus on what YOU can do to change or improve a situation, not what you wish others would do. Lastly, be kind to yourself and others. It will make your life so much better!
