Professionally, Andrew has been an ACE Program mentor at local and state levels since 2018. In the community, he is active in Penn State’s Alumni Mentor Program and NOMAct.” - Jon Pickard FAIA, RIBA, Principal at Pickard Chilton

In the last 12 months what accomplishment are you most proud of? My work as project manager on the 290 Binney St. project, the future home of Astrazeneca and Alexion, has been incredibly rewarding throughout its lifespan. The city and community have been engaged with the project from its inception, informing the masterplan, building design, and detailing; bringing a building that both reflects its location and humanizes the science happening inside. Collaborating with Boston Properties and seeing the progress and actualization of that project is exciting daily.

Who are the key people in your life that have contributed to your success? The mindset of viewing our workplace as a ‘studio’ is foundational to Pickard Chilton and shapes how we all work; encouraging innovation and always striving to deliver better design than the day before. This commitment to excellence and academic approach to our work directly comes from the firm’s founding leadership; Jon, Bill, and Tony. Each has had enormous impact on how I approach my work and engage with the built environment and communities we serve.

Outside of your career, where else do you seek continuous learning and personal growth? Throughout my career, I have been fortunate to participate in volunteering and mentorship programs helping to shape the next generation of A/E/C professionals. Serving on the board of the ACE Mentor Program for Connecticut has allowed me to work with hundreds of students; aiding their growth and sharing the passion we all have for our work. The students never fail to come with an incredible idea or insightful question that provokes reflection and thoughtful discussion.
