2024 Ones to Watch - Industry Leaders: Alex Madden, Kay Properties & Investments

Alex Madden
Senior Vice President
Kay Properties & Investments

Three skills that you use every day in your position:

Clear communication, curiosity, and mirroring.

Best book, podcast, or app for aspiring leaders:

The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy.

Best advice for new leaders in 10 words or less:

Be decisive. Protect and sacrifice for your team.

What was one of your biggest challenges as a leader and how did you overcome it?

It’s difficult to “do it all” simultaneously, especially as teams and businesses grow. It’s often tempting to make the "expedient" decision instead of the “right”. While this may pay off in the immediate context, it can require us to move slower in the future as we need to course correct. Making the difficult "right" decision can feel painful in the moment but always pays off in the end.

What makes this nominee an Industry Leader?

“Alex is a truly seasoned professional in all aspects of his life.  As a US Army Ranger, he had multiple deployments to Afghanistan in support of the War on Terror, and later served as a Chief of Staff position on an elite Special Operations Task Force. As a real estate investment advisor, Alex constantly proves his ability to solve complex problems and demonstrates high ethical standards while paying close attention to details.” - Dwight Kay, founder and chief executive officer, Kay Properties & Investments.
