Green Leaf Construction

“Daniel Spinney, Director of Operations at Green Leaf Construction, is a trusted leader known for his deep industry knowledge, strategic vision, and hands-on approach. His commitment to operational excellence, team development, and client satisfaction has strengthened the firm’s reputation for quality and reliability across every project.”

What recent accomplishment or initiative are you most proud of, and what impact did it have on your firm, clients, or community? For the past 12 years, I have participated in the Run to Home Base fundraising run, which supports veterans and their families. The event is more than a race; it’s a reminder of community, gratitude, and purpose. The encouragement and support I get from my company and coworkers makes it even more meaningful. Their backing reflects the culture we’ve built, which values compassion, teamwork, and giving back. This shared commitment strengthens our connection, builds pride within the firm, and reinforces the idea that success is about more than business, it’s about making a difference together.

How do you inspire, motivate, or mentor others within your organization? I feel that the most effective leaders lead with authenticity, consistency, and respect. I take time to listen and understand what drives each person, connecting their strengths to the organization’s mission. I mentor through collaboration, sharing lessons learned, offering honest feedback, and celebrating progress, not just results. I believe in empowering people to take ownership of their work, encouraging them to think critically, grow from challenges, and find pride in their contributions.

What advice would you share with emerging professionals striving to become future leaders in commercial real estate? After 40 years in construction, my advice is simple: learn the business from the ground up. Spend time in the field, understand the people and process, and never stop learning. Build trust through integrity and relationships because your reputation is everything. Embrace new technology and sustainability, and always lead with humility, accountability, and care for your team. True leadership is earned by listening, learning, and putting people first.

What daily habit or routine helps you stay focused or motivated as a leader? I start each day by setting priorities, staying connected, and ending with reflection.

What book, podcast, or app has most influenced your approach to leadership? “The Playbook: A Coach’s Rules for Life” featuring Doc Rivers reinforced my value in servant leaders

Who has had the greatest impact on your career or leadership journey? My dad; he started as a carpenter and taught me the value of hard work, integrity, and humility.
