Charles Myers
Senior Project Manager
The HYM Investment Group

“Charles is the kind of leader and Senior Project Manager every project hopes for. He is driven, collaborative, and deeply committed to impact, visible through his work at Suffolk Downs. He has been key to ensuring the delivery of Amaya and Beachmont Square, while continuing to engage in opportunities that further support his growth, such as NAIOP’s Developing Leaders. There is no doubt that Charles is a Rising Star in Greater Boston’s commercial real estate industry.” - Leo Rusk, Senior Vice President at The HYM Investment Group.

What recent professional milestone or project are you most proud of, and why? I’m most proud of delivering the first phase of infrastructure and the first residential building-Amaya-at the Suffolk Downs redevelopment on time and on budget. It’s rewarding to see Amaya’s lease up actively combat the housing crisis and watch vibrant spaces like Beachmont Sq. come to life. What was once a concept is now a thriving, real-world destination attracting people from across the region.

If you could give advice to someone just starting out in your field, what would it be? I often speak to college and high school students about how real estate spans trades, law, design, finance, and engineering; there’s a place for everyone. My advice is to be curious and stay humble. Ask questions, seek feedback, and take initiative. The best growth happens when you step outside your comfort zone and learn from every role, whether it’s big or small, on a project.

What’s one challenge you’ve overcome in your career so far, and what did it teach you? Buying out and breaking ground on a project during COVID- 19 was one of the greatest challenges. Navigating supply chain issues, material shortages, inflation, and rising costs taught me to stay calm under pressure, prioritize wisely, and communicate clearly. Lessons in adaptability, clear communication, and resilience continue to guide me in this evolving industry.

Who has played a pivotal role in your development, and how have they influenced you? Leaders at HYM and Dellbrook JKS supported my growth in an industry where people of color are underrepresented-especially in New England-modeling integrity and excellence. Most of my inspiration comes from my great- grandfather, Brig. Gen. Charles E. McGee, a decorated Tuskegee Airman, whose 4 P’s-perceive, prepare, perform, and persevere-guide me to keep paving new paths in all that I do.
